Rebecca D. Golgert, MD has been caring for patients in the Santa Barbara area since 2008. She is a board-certified general otolaryngologist who treats disorders of the ear, nose, and throat both clinically and surgically for patients of all ages.
Dr. Golgert was born and raised in Ohio and graduated from Ohio Wesleyan University with honors. She then attended Loyola University Chicago Stritch School of Medicine for medical school and completed her Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery residency at the Medical College of Wisconsin. She is board certified by the American Board of Otolaryngology.
Prior to living in Santa Barbara, Dr. Golgert was an Assistant Professor in the Department of Otolaryngology at the Medical College of Wisconsin and the Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin. She taught resident physicians and received awards from her students for her teaching ability.
Dr. Golgert moved to Santa Barbara in 2008 and has quickly integrated into the community. Outside of her clinical duties, she teaches the residents and medical students at Cottage Hospital. She has held positions on several committees locally for Cottage Hospital and nationally through the American Academy of Otolaryngology.
Dr. Golgert believes that the most important aspect of a patient’s medical care is his/her understanding of the problem. She takes time to explain how the body works and why symptoms and illnesses occur so the patient has a better understanding of the workup and treatment options available. Though it’s not possible to alleviate all symptoms and cure all problems, helping patients understand their conditions is a very important part of their care. She values the relationships that she develops with her patients, and she wants to be certain that patients feel comfortable with their visits and their medical decisions.
